Reporting A Safeguarding Concern
If you have a safeguarding concern
We want every student, parent and member of our community to feel confident about speaking up.
If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a student, please contact our Designated Safeguarding Lead or a member of the safeguarding team as soon as possible.
If a child is in immediate danger, call 999. Do not wait for a response from the school.
If you are a student
If something is worrying you, please remember:
-
You are never alone, and it is always right to ask for help.
-
You can speak to your Form Tutor, Head of Year, a trusted teacher or a member of the safeguarding team.
-
You do not need to be certain that something is wrong before telling someone.
-
We will listen carefully and take your concerns seriously.
-
You will be treated with kindness, dignity and respect.
If you are worried about a friend, please tell a trusted adult. You do not have to manage the situation on your own.
If you are a parent or carer
If you have concerns about your daughter or another student, please contact the school's safeguarding team.
We encourage parents and carers to share concerns at the earliest opportunity. Early communication can help us identify difficulties, provide appropriate support and take action where necessary.
Please be aware that, where a safeguarding concern is raised, the school may need to share relevant information with children's social care or other safeguarding professionals to protect a child.
What happens when a concern is raised?
Every concern is taken seriously, however small it may initially appear.
When a concern is shared, we will:
-
Listen carefully and respond sensitively.
-
Record the concern accurately and securely.
-
Refer the matter to the Designated Safeguarding Lead or their deputy.
-
Consider what action or support is needed to protect the child.
-
Work with external safeguarding agencies where appropriate.
-
Continue to monitor and support the student's wellbeing.
We will always act in the best interests of the child. Please understand that confidentiality cannot be guaranteed where information needs to be shared to safeguard a child.
