Year Group Saints
Each saint offers a wonderful role model for our students as they grow in confidence, develop their gifts and discover the difference they can make in the world. We are inspired by women whose faith, courage and compassion changed the world.
Our Year Group Saints; women of faith, courage and inspiration
Year 7 St Josephine Bakhita
St Josephine Bakhita's remarkable life is a story of courage, forgiveness and hope. Born in Sudan, she endured the horrors of slavery before finding freedom and discovering her faith. She later became a Canossian Sister, dedicating her life to serving others with kindness and love. She inspires our Year 7 students to face new beginnings with courage, treat everyone with dignity and always believe in the power of hope.
Year 8 St Winifred
St Winifred, a seventh-century Welsh saint, is remembered for her deep faith, purity and unwavering commitment to God. According to tradition, she survived a violent attack and was miraculously restored to life. Her story has inspired generations of Christians. She encourages our Year 8 students to remain true to their values, stand firm in their beliefs and find strength in their faith.
Year 9 St Edith of Wilton
St Edith of Wilton was an Anglo-Saxon princess who chose a life of prayer and service rather than the privileges of royal life. A Benedictine nun, she was admired for her humility, wisdom and generosity towards others. She inspires our Year 9 students to recognise that true greatness comes not from status or achievement, but from kindness, humility and the positive difference we make in the lives of others.
Year 10 St Margaret of Scotland
St Margaret of Scotland was a queen whose life was marked by faith, compassion and service. She used her position to help the poor, support education, care for the vulnerable and strengthen the Church. She shows our Year 10 students that leadership is about much more than influence or recognition; it is about using our gifts and opportunities to serve others and make a meaningful difference.
Year 11 St Teresa of Ávila
St Teresa of Ávila was a courageous Spanish Carmelite nun, gifted writer and great spiritual reformer. She devoted her life to prayer, deepening her relationship with God and renewing religious life. Despite facing considerable challenges, she remained determined and strong in her convictions. She inspires our Year 11 students to be resilient, pursue their ambitions with confidence and recognise the importance of reflection, perseverance and inner strength.
Sixth Form St Bernadette Soubirous
St Bernadette Soubirous was a young French girl from a humble family who experienced visions of the Virgin Mary at Lourdes in 1858. Despite scepticism and many difficulties, she remained faithful to what she had experienced, showing remarkable humility, courage and trust in God. She inspires our Sixth Form students to remain authentic, have the courage to stand by their convictions and approach the future with faith, humility and hope.
